Ongoing Implementation of SAM
Action Plans are updated and modified based on the analysis of data compiled over the course of each semester
The SAM process relies on formative assessment data from the SAM Analysis System, a valid and reliable instrument called SAMAN. Secondly, it relies on summative streams of students’ academic and social performance data including:- District level data such as attendance, achievement test scores at grade level, etc.;
- school level data such as curriculum based measures in subject matter areas; and
- social data such as SWIS data for positive behavior support.
The Action Plans address local training and technical assistance needs. Content includes:
- differentiated instruction;
- team building;
- alternative assessment;
- paraprofessional utilization and deployment, including supervision and evaluation;
- positive behavior support at all three levels;
- enhanced literacy and math strategies;
- integrative therapies;
- scheduling, particularly for students with severe and multiple disabilities;
- parent information;
- collaborative teaching, and
- data-based decision making.
