Initial Steps in Implementation

An informational session for district administrators, principals and technical assistance providers

Following the identification of the initial clusters of cohort 1 schools, an informational session is typically provided to acquaint stakeholders with SAM processes and requirements. A brief survey questionnaire is distributed at this session to be completed by administrative and teaching staff at participating schools. The purpose of the questionnaire is to create an awareness of what the SAM process is about and to provide baseline data concerning the view of the process from the standpoint of personnel at each school.

A professional development activity: School-centered planning process

stair
Each school within the cohort 1 clusters will undergo an initial full-day professional development activity provided by a SAMSCHOOLS, LLC team. This process, patterned after a participant program evaluation strategy called Empowerment Evaluation, will result in an Action Plan for each participating school to be implemented in the first semester. School participants in this activity will constitute the Site Leadership Team (SLT) for each school. This process is repeated in January and August of each year of participation.
